DETROIT—Over 300 Detroit-area
residents will join nearly 2,000 volunteers from 10 cities and the District of
Columbia on Saturday, May 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 11th annual
National Arab American Service Day.
Hosted by the National Network for
Arab American Communities (NNAAC), in partnership with DTE Energy and the
Resource Community Development Corporation, volunteers will help board up nine
neighboring houses and clear nine lots in a residential area.
Participants will also plant flowers
around Pleasant Grove Church in Detroit, paint to beautify the neighborhood and
clear brush and debris at 18 different locations.
Under its motto, “Serving
Communities, Connecting People,” Service Day brings together diverse groups and
individuals for one shared goal: responding creatively to their community’s
needs. Volunteers will meet at Pleasant Grove Church in Detroit.
