DEARBORN — Fatina Abdrabboh, director of the ADC-Michigan, was recently selected to join the alumni council at Harvard University for a three- year term.
The university selects council members thorough a vetting process and appointments are subject to confirmation by university officials.
As a leading academic center, Harvard University has been at the forefront of producing the world’s leading scholars, researchers, scientists and intellectuals. Abdrabboh graduated from Harvard University with dual degrees. She becomes the first Arab-American and Muslim American to ever be selected to the prestigious post.
“I am extremely humbled and honored by this opportunity,” Abdrabboh said. “The ideals of Harvard, including respect and excellence, represent the best academics has to offer. My time as a student there has instilled in me a motivation to give back and a desire to stay involved. The skills I learned and developed as a student still resonate now in my everyday life. I hope this will be an opportunity to give back to Harvard and also to bring from it to our community the vision for lasting impact.”
The Harvard Alumni Council works with alumni volunteers and school leadership to create community among alumni, build bridges between graduates and to connect alumni to the University-wide Harvard Alumni Association (HAA).
The Harvard Alumni Council also serves as an advisory board to the school, as needed by the Dean or other members of the faculty and administration. Abdrabboh’s three-year term on the council will begin on July 1.
