DEARBORN — On Friday, June 5, State Sen. David Knezek (D- Dearborn Heights) presented the tutoring company Educare Student Services with a special tribute.
Knezek presented Educare founder Hussein Hachem with a plaque during a private reception at the company’s new office in West Dearborn.
The plaque was signed by Knezek, Gov. Snyder, State Sen. Morris Hood (D- Detroit) and State Rep. George Darany (D- Dearborn). Knezek discussed the success Educare Student Services has had since launching only a few years ago and its impact on students’ academic success.
“We are talking about having come to this country in 2008 and you are still in college and here we are four years later,” Knezek said. “You have this tremendous company behind you. What a powerful example of living the American dream. What a tremendous role model you can be for all the kids who are participating is this program.”
Many success stories have come out of Educare Student Services.
“This program works and it is part of our community,” Knezek added. “So I took that message to my colleagues in the senate and I took this message to the governor and we all agreed that we wanted to do something to recognize the success and excellence of this program.”
Dearborn City Council President Susan Dabaja and Wayne County Third Circuit Court Judge Charlene Elder both attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Rachad Elghoul was presented with the Educare Student Services Tutor of the Year award.
“This guy has been working with me for quite a long time,” Hachem said about Elghoul. “He is dedicated to the company. He makes sure the students do everything they have to do and even more work.”
Fadwa Sobh, a parent, discussed the impact the company has had on her children who are students in the Dearborn Public School District.
She said both of her students were able to get into accelerated programs because of the company’s services.
Hachem said at least two students who received tutoring services went on to attend Harvard and other prominent universities.
“We were so small when we initially started,” he said. “I always tell my students don’t say that you can’t do anything. All you have to do is have a plan and put the time into it. There is nothing that is impossible in this world. We are living the American Dream and this is a country of opportunities.”
