DEARBORN—ACCESS Hope House members and ACCESS youth
volunteers toiled in the soil this spring to plant the center’s first community
garden.
Hope
House members, adults with a history of mental illness, worked together with
the youth to dig up the ground near the front corner of the Hope House parking
lot, create planting beds and plant flowers and vegetables.
A
row of soaring sunflowers are among the garden’s splendor to look forward to
this summer. The sunflowers are blooming right now, and most of the other
plants have blossomed.
The
center’s members are very excited about the garden and use all the vegetables
in their daily cooking at the center.
