Detroit — Police are searching for four teens who escaped Aug. 27 from a treatment program at a facility on the city’s east side.
The teens were residents in a program at the DePaul Youth Treatment Center in the 600 block of East Grand Boulevard, said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a spokeswoman for the Detroit Police Department.
The center is a medium-security mental health facility managed by staff from Don Bosco Hall, according to the private nonprofit agency’s website.
At about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 27, “when the security worker opened the front door to allow some visiting members to leave, he was pushed down to the ground and the escapees fled on foot in different directions,” on East Grand, police said in a statement.
Each of the youths had been convicted of previous crimes and was being held at the facility “due to special needs,” police said. Authorities were checking all of their last known addresses.
