DEARBORN — The Lebanese American Heritage Club honored the late iconic diva Sabah with a concert by renowned Syrian singer Rouwaida Attieh at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night.
A sellout audience, including activists and elected officials, attended the event.
Sabah, who passed away at age 87 last November, had reached legendary status because of her decades of continuous music productions and the allure of her singing voice. She released more than 50 albums and acted in 98 movies as well as more than 20 stage plays. She has a reported 3,500 songs in her repertoire.
Attieh, whose voice and singing style is similar to Sabah’s, said she is honored to pay homage to the “legend.”
“I am proud to sing for an artist with such an exceptional status, who has enriched our musical heritage,” Attieh told The Arab American News.
At the end of the concert, Wassim Mahfouz, the executive director of the LAHC, Dearborn Council President Susan Dabaja and Councilman Mike Sareini presented Attieh with an appreciation award.
