DETROIT — A Detroit pastor
shot and killed a 25-year-old man after he had threated him with a brick after
Sunday church services, said Detroit police on Monday.
The shooting
occurred at the City of God Church on Sunday at about 1:45 p.m. after church
services had just ended, Detroit police officer Jennifer Moreno said.
Moreno said the
37-year-old slain pastor had previously filed several harassment reports with
the police against the man.
The pastor took out
a handgun after the man took out a brick and made motions the pastor found
threatening, and shot him multiple times.
He died shortly
after at a nearby hospital, Moreno said.
The pastor was
questioned and released until prosecutors decide if the shooting was justified,
Moreno said.
The Detroit News,
citing two police sources, reported that the man’s wife might have been a
factor in the shooting.
