DEARBORN — Police arrested a couple for allegedly kidnapping a 22-year-old woman. The victim was forced into the couple’s truck at gunpoint but managed to escaped from the moving vehicle and later made it to a hospital and called the police.
On Oct. 18, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit informed Dearborn Police of the victim, who stated that she was abducted by a former female friend and her boyfriend.
The woman was allegedly abducted near her home in the area of Warren and Lonyo in Dearborn.
The victim was able to use the vehicle’s trunk release and jumped from the moving car onto east bound I-94 near Livernois in Detroit.
A passing driver stopped to assist her. The suspects fled the scene after the victim escaped. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
On Oct. 21, Dearborn Police took the two suspects into custody in the city of Warren.
The Dearborn Police Department is currently awaiting a charges from the Wayne Coounty Prosecutor’s Office. Arraignment information will be forthcoming.
Police Chief Ron Haddad reaffirmed the department’s commitment to public safety, pledging to vigorously use all the available resources to pursue criminals.
“We are thankful that we were able to apprehend the perpetrators of the kidnapping quickly and that the victim escaped without serious injuries,” he said.
