Dearborn — Shelby Township resident Shady Bin-Emad-Sami Karim, 27, was arrested and charged with Attempted Home Invasion in Dearborn.
The Felony carries a maximum 5 year penalty in prison.
Based on information learned subsequent to the arrest, the Dearborn Police believe Karim may be responsible for other home invasions. The investigation is still ongoing related to those cases.
On October 15th, at approximately 8:45am, Dearborn Police Officers responded to the 5900 block of Horger regarding a suspect attempting to break into the home.
Officers on scene spoke to the homeowner who statedshe was awakened by an unknown suspect knocking on her front and side doors. The homeowner stated when she looked outside she observed a black Ford vehicle in her driveway unoccupied but running.
The homeowner then heard someone attempting to force open the rear sliding glass door but the suspect was only able to open the door approximately 2 inches.
The homeowner observed a white male, suspectstanding on the back porch. Upon seeing the homeowner, the suspect fled the scene in the Ford which was stopped by the Dearborn Police two blocks away.
Police arrested Karim after he made statements putting him at the scene of the crime and he was taken into custody.
On October 16th, Karim was arraigned in the 19th District Court by Judge William Hultgren who set bond at $20,000 and order the wearing of a GPS tether if bond is posted.

Our patrol officers and detectives did an excellent job which resulted in an arrest that may close several home invasion cases in Dearborn,” said Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad.
