DEARBORN — The 3-year-old son of a Dearborn couple who were victims of the recent attack in Beirut will meet with his idol, Christiano Ronaldo, a player with the Real Madrid Football Club.
Haidar Moustafa’s parents’ lives were lost when two suicide bombs ripped through Borj El-Barajne, a suburb in south Lebanon.
Goal, a soccer-related news publication, reported that its Lebanese correspondent visited the child at a hospital after noticing the child was wearing a Real Madrid jersey in a photo.
The correspondent contacted the Spanish team and its president, Florentino Perez, arranged the meeting between the Ronaldo and Moustafa.
Prior to the arrangement, Lebanese journalist Rana Harbi sparked a social media campaign using the hashtag #CristianoMeetHaidar to raise awareness and help make the boy’s dreams come true.
The attacks in south Lebanon killed at 43 civilians last Thursday.
