DEARBORN — Community members turned out to Byblos Banquet Hall on November 27 to celebrate the 72nd commemoration of the independence day of Lebanon.
In attendance at the event were Consulate General of Lebanon-Detroit Bilal Qabalan, Abdallah Ajram, Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad, Dearborn City Council President Susan Dabaja, Dearborn Councilman Mike Sareini, Dearborn Heights Councilman Dave Abdallah.
The event was emceed by Dearborn resident Sarah Jaber. During the ceremony, a moment of silence was given in remembrance of the fallen victims in the Beirut and Paris terror attacks.
Qabalan took the podium to give a speech about Lebanese-American relations and stressed on unity among the Lebanese community. He addressed the instability of the country today, but believes the future will be brighter.
