GRAND RAPIDS — During an armed robbery, a Grand Rapids store clerk of Indian descent was called a “terrorist” before he was shot in the face, MLive reported.
The robber shot the clerk in the cheek before midnight on Saturday, Dec. 12. The victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries and is now in stable condition.
Gurleen Kaur, the store owner’s son, said the victim whose name was not released, told him the robber suggested that the clerk is a part of ISIS.
The shooter told the victim that he used to shoot people like him in Iraq.
Hate crimes have increased against Muslims and people who appear to be Muslim after the San Bernardino attack. Last week, presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested banning Muslims from entering the United States.
