Richmond, CA. — A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after police say he was making explosives in his home with the intent of harming Muslims, prompting the neighborhood to be evacuated.
Police say they received a tip from a caller on December 17, who said the man was constructing devices to “harm the Muslim community.”
A bomb squad removed a device from his home and detonated another one while the area was evacuated.
The suspect, identified as 55-year-old William Celli, was arrested and booked into the Contra Costa County jail on Sunday afternoon.
Celli had made on social media posts of pictures of pipe bombs and posts in support of Donald Trump, stating that he would follow the Republican business tycoon “to the end of the world.”
The suspect also reportedly stood outside the Islamic Society of West Contra Costa County and yelled “I’m going to kill you all” at worshippers leaving a prayer service.
There were no injuries.
