Democratic and Republican presidential candidates seem to disagree on everything, except supporting Israel. All mainstream U.S. politicians are also in agreement that the two-state “solution” is the only path to ending the Israeli-Palestinian wars.
The two positions are in direct conflict with each other. Israel exists as an independent nation. The missing half of the two-state solution is the Palestinian state. Israel is actively preventing the establishment of a sovereign country for the Palestinian people by militarily occupying and building Jewish colonies in the Palestinian territories.
This year, the White House received a Christmas gift from the Israeli embassy of products exclusively made in West Bank settlements, where Jewish residents live as a superior race to their Palestinian neighbors.
This was a spit in the face of the two-state “solution”, the supposed American policy.
In the West Bank, Jews get special access to everything. They have their own education and transportation systems. They vote in Israeli elections. They are heavily armed and frequently attack Palestinian civilians, churches and mosques.
It is an apartheid system enforced by a foreign military occupation.
The White House is getting wine, olive oil and body cream stolen from Palestinians and packaged in colonies that violate international law. The First Family will get a taste of the occupation.
The Obama Administration has been verbally opposed to settlement-building. This holiday present is an insult to both the president and the American people. But we doubt that Obama will respond in any meaningful way or at least send the package back. We expect the president to enjoy the delicacies that are drenched in Palestinian suffering.
When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came to Congress without a presidential invitation, against all diplomatic protocols, Obama retaliated by reaffirming support for Israel.
Washington’s failed approach to the conflict will only lead to more wars, chaos and anti-American sentiments in the Muslim and Arab worlds.
The United States vetoes UN Security Council resolutions to denounce Israeli settlements. The State Department pays with our tax dollars for the guns and vehicles of Israeli soldiers who occupy the land of the Palestinian state and murder and oppress its people. Yet, supposedly official U.S. policy advocates for a two-state solution.
The Israeli embassy’s gift to the president highlights the hypocrisy of the American position. The United States cannot sponsor the peace process, while its president consumes goods stolen from the Palestinian state.
