DEARBORN — Palestinian singer Mohammed Assaf will perform in a charity concert at Fordson High School on Friday, March 4.
The profit from the event will go to Gaza hospitals, according to Palestinian American activist Daad Katato.
Assaf rose to popularity after wining TV talent show Arab Idol in 2013. He garnered international attention for his patriotic songs in support of the Palestinian cause.
He was the first Palestinian to win the title.
In 2013, he was named a goodwill ambassador for peace by The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
“Mohammed Assaf is going to sing for free,” Katato said. “He is an incredibly respectable young man.”
