Dearborn – In the early morning hours of February 11th,
2016, Dearborn Police Officers responded to the 24000 block of Boston in
regards to a male who had been found inside the residence garage and scared off
by the family dog.
Officers obtained a
description of the suspect from the homeowner and spread out in the
neighborhood in an attempt to locate him.
A short time later a subject matching the description, identified as
43-year-old Paul Ziolkowski, was located on the corner of Carlysle and Westwood
and detained by officers.
A thorough and lengthy investigation
was completed and officers were able to track the suspect’s footprints in the
snow back to the Boston address.
Officers were also able to follow his footprints to several other
garages in the neighborhood and discovered a snow blower had been removed from
one of them.
Dearborn Police followed the
tracks from the snow blowers wheels and the suspect’s footprints, which led
them to the snow blower that had been hidden on the side of a party store where
Ziolkowski had first been detained. On February 12, Ziolkowski
was charged with: Breaking & Entering
– A Building with Intent, Breaking & Entering – Illegal Entry and Habitual
Offender – Third Offense.
His Bond was set at $5,000 10%, with his
Probable Cause Conference set for 02/26/16 at 9am at the 19th
District Court.
“Our citizens are the
eyes and ears of the community,” Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad stated “By
remaining observant, the resident was able to give a detailed description of
the suspect which led to his apprehension.
Our patrol officers did an excellent investigation which resulted in an
arrest that may close several garage break-in cases in Dearborn’s West
End.”
