LOS ANGELES — R&B singer The Weeknd must love Arabs.
He is currently dating a Palestinian American. He is managed by two Middle Eastern men and is currently featured on a song with a Canadian Palestinian rapper.
The “Earned It” singer is no longer being private about his relationship with Palestinian American Model Bella Hadid.
Rumors had been swirling for months that the pair were an item. Hadid, 19, appeared in the music video for The Weeknd’s hit single “In The Night” in late 2015.
The 26-year-old singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, arrived on the Grammy red carpet last Monday with Hadid by his side. He won two Grammy awards that evening.
The Weeknd has other ties to Palestinians as well. He currently appears on the song “Might Not,” with Canadian Palestinian rapper Belly (Ahmed Balshe).
The Weeknd’s managers are also from the Middle East.
Amir “Cash” Esmailian is an Iranian Canadian business manager, while Tony W. Sal, is a Lebanese Canadian record executive.
Both of them have been credited for the rise of his recent success. His latest platinum album, “Beauty Behind the Madness,” spawned the No. 1 singles “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.”
Meanwhile Hadid is the sister of supermodel Gigi Hadid, who is dating Zayn Malik of OneDirection. The two recently starred in his solo music video for his song “PillowTalk.”
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the Hadids are the daughters of real estate developer Mohamed Hadid, a Palestinian. Their mother is Yolanda Foster, who appears on the Bravo reality series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
