GM Chairwoman and CEO Mary Barra heads up the line up of the CBS show, which will air on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. on CBS 62.
Bazzy, the founder and president of Zaman International, a humanitarian organization that provides food and clothing to the underprivileged, is a prominent Muslim American activist
Others featured on the show include Gretchen Valade, Chairwoman Emeritus of Carhartt; Andra Rush, CEO of Rush Group; and Suzanne Shank, Chairman and CEO of Siebert Brandford & Shank.
Bazzy said she was honored to be recognized, but her joy was for her organization, not herself.
“It’s never about me; I was happy for Zaman,” she said. “A Muslim woman in hijab running a humanitarian nonprofit that knows no color, no creed, no religion — that’s the win for me.”
She added that Arab and Muslim women have been contributing “tremendously” to the well-being of the region.
“They’re from every profession there is, doctors, lawyers, judges, engineers, teachers, nurses,” she told The Arab American News. “When women are given a place to stand, they can move the world.”
“Detroit is a community blessed with many strong, incredible women making an impact, and we’re pleased to help share their stories in this program,” Tom Canedo, president and general manager of CBS 62/CW50, told the CBS website.
