MEMPHIS – Some residents are outraged after a gun show in Tennessee
sold offensive t-shirts directed towards Islam and African Americans.
A Tennessee resident named Sam took pictures of the insensitive shirts
at the gun show over the weekend.
One stated “Everything I ever needed to know about Islam I
learned on 9/11,” while another one said “Black Guns matter.”
“What can possibly 9-11 teach everybody about Muslims? If
you think all you have to know about Islam is what happened on 9-11, you’re in
for a rude awakening,” Sam told local affiliate FOX13.
Sam said he also went to a gun show in January in a near by
county. At that event, some merchants refused to sell guns to Muslims.
Sam is a gun lover who happens to be a devout Muslim. He told
FOX13 the gun shows that he used to enjoy have become fertile ground for people
who want to slander his faith.
“It’s almost like that’s the ring. (Gun shows are)
where you get to do it,” Sam said. “There’s no rules. No guards. No nothing.
You can say what you want and it’s a free country. You’re entitled to your own
opinion.”
After the owners of the weekend’s gun show, RK Show Inc., were
contacted, they refused to comment on the isse.
“As RK Shows, we have no comment at this point,” a spokesperson
said.
