DEARBORN
–Two of the city’s neighborhood parks will be having quite the splash this
summer.
Hemlock
Park and Crowley Park are now operating splash pads for the entire summer.
Both
splash pads provide outdoor aquatic fun daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather
permitting. Use of the splash pads is free and no pool tags are required.
Hemlock
Park is located at Hemlock and Jonathon streets; Crowley Park is at Westwood
and Oxford streets.
The
splash pads aim to rejuvenate traffic at the parks.
In
recent years, several neighborhood pools faced closures in Dearborn due to
budget cuts. LaPeer Park, located in the south end, was the closest pool in
proximity for many children in the east end neighborhoods.
This
year, Ford Woods pool is the first to open for the summer season, offering open
swimming weekdays
from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12-6 p.m. through June
17.
Beginning
June 18, Ford Woods, along with Dearborn’s other outdoor pools — Lapeer, Summer
Stephens and Ten Eyck — will offer open swimming daily from 1-6 p.m.
Dunworth
Pool at Levagood Park will feature open swimming weekdays from 4-7 p.m. and
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12-6 p.m. through June 16.
From
June 17-19, Dunworth will host the USS Swim Meet, and consequently, will not
offer opening swimming on these days.
Beginning
June 20, Dunworth will offer open swimming weekdays from 1-8 p.m. and
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 12-8 p.m.
Lapeer,
Summer-Stephens and Ten Eyck Pools are scheduled to close for the summer August
14 at 6 p.m.
Beginning
August 15 and continuing through September 5, Dunworth and Ford Woods will
offer open swimming weekdays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays
from noon to 6 p.m.
The
schedules are subject to change due to the weather.
All
swimmers must either pay a daily admission fee or purchase a seasonal pool tag.
Pool
tags are good for admittance to the outdoor pools only; not the indoor pools at
the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center
