DETROIT- The Detroit Police Lieutenants and
Sergeants Association is hosting a fundraiser dinner at the Gaelic League on
June 9 for Aref Algarrafi, a Detroit detective who suffers from leukemia, to
help him cover medical expenses.
Back
in December of 2015, Algarrafi went to urgent care for a severe ear infection.
After some blood work, he was sent to Henry Ford Main for extra tests,
including an extraction of bone marrow from his back, to learn he was diagnosed
with acute Leukemia.
The
top treatment he could receive was in Houston, Texas, where he had to fly out to
as soon as possible. Currently, he is receiving a bone marrow transplant.
Algarrafi is a husband and father of four. He has been a Detroit police officer
for almost 20 years, serving the city with no objection.
The
dinner starts at 6 p.m. Attend and donate $10 to help him and his family cover
medical costs.
