DETROIT—WDIV-Local
4 announced an ongoing series of news reports, called “Arab in America,” that
brings viewers personal stories of Arab Americans and a look at the culture of
Arab families in Metro Detroit.
“Arab
in America” is part of Local 4’s commitment to telling the true and often
untold stories of people and topics that shape the community.
“There’s
so much written, said and talked about when it comes to our Arab community, but
there are so many stories, and perspectives that don’t get told, unfortunately.
We’re hoping to bridge some of those gaps, by sharing these deeply personal
stories and demystifying some common stereotypes,” said Local 4 News anchor Sandra
Ali.
“We
decided to shoot all of these reports with an iPhone to keep the process
personal and unobtrusive,” said News Director Kim Voet. “WDIV is dedicated to
exploring the interwoven cultures of our region.”
The
first report airs Sunday, June 5 during “Local 4 News at 11pm.”
