The FBI Detroit has informed residents to be vigilant of suspicious activity, following the Orlando massacre on Sunday morning.
“FBI Detroit is coordinating with our Federal, state, and local partners to share information as it becomes available about the Orlando shooting incident,” it said in a statement. “ FBI Detroit is similarly encouraging vigilance with respect to suspicious, incidents or threat reporting and requests the public contact the FBI or their local police department if they have threat information to report.”
Meanwhile, the Orlando shooting has cast a dark cloud on the Motor City Pride Fest in downtown Detroit taking place this weekend.
Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody told the Detroit Free Press there has been no “direct threat” to the festival and that he’s confident the event is adequately staffed.
“We’ve got a lot of people everywhere today,” he said, adding that the police department “always operates in a state of readiness.”
