DEARBORN — Tour the DIA Away and think like an artist at Dearborn’s Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on July 14, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Open to the public at no charge, DIA Away is a mobile, interactive creative exploration space for people of all ages. This educational “hands on” experience is provided by the Detroit Institute of Arts to communities throughout Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
DIA Away is described as a fully furnished, vibrantly designed 53-foot expandable, handicap accessible trailer and provides a “beyond the museum walls” experience.
“Visitors can discover how artists think and have the opportunity to try out their own creative thinking skills through the use of touch screens, sliding panels lift labels and other interactive elements,” a press release by the museum stated. “An exploration area features digital and graphic reproductions of five works of art from the DIA collection.”
For one day only, DIA Away will be located on the south parking lot at the Civic Center.
DIA Away at the The Center is a co-operative project of Dearborn Recreation & Parks, Dearborn Community Arts Council and the Dearborn Community Fund.
