ROMULUS – A Romulus man faces multiple felony charges after investigators say he tried to light his girlfriend on fire.
Investigators say Frank Stanchulski, 31, doused his girlfriend in gasoline at a home on the 10700 block of Belleville Road in Wayne County’s Van Buren Township about 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 28.
He used a lighter to try and ignite her, but was unsuccessful, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy’s office said in a statement.
Stanchulski “then poured gasoline in her car and set it on fire and fled from the area,” the prosecutor alleges.
The woman was shaken, but will be okay.
Stanchulski is charged with fourth-degree arson, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault and domestic violence.
A $100,000, 10-percent cash or surety bond was set for his release pending trial. A preliminary examination is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 14.
