DETROIT- Detroit’s funky jazz scene is colliding with the aesthetics and music of the Arab world in a must see event for music and arts lovers.
The event, titled “In Transit Detroit-Arab-esque,” will take Sean Blackman’s monthly “In Transit Detroit” concert series, hosted on the last Thursday of every month at the Garden Theater in midtown, and fuse it with music from the Middle East. Blackman traditionally spotlights a different region each month through live music, dance and cuisine.
Each month, Blackman selects the most talented international artists that are now living in Metro Detroit and integrates them with Detroit’s finest mainstream musicians. This crosscultural approach makes it more accessible to a Western audience while still satisfying the audience of the featured country.
On Thursday, September 29 , Blackman will highlight the aesthetics and music of the Arab world.
Tickets in advance are $15 for general admission, $20 for preferred seating and $25 per person for VIP tables. Prices are slightly higher at the door. Tickets and info available at seanblackman.com/live.
Past featured countries include Argentina, France, Spain, Senegal, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Armenia, and India, all fused with a Detroit funk n’ jazz, blues, rock and soul rhythm section.
