CLEVELAND – A 63-year-old father is facing charges for killing his 27-year-old daughter.

Police said that Jamal T. Mansour murdered his daughter Tahani Mansour in her bedroom on Tuesday, September 27, around 1:15 a.m., when he shot her twice in the head.

The victim’s brother called 911, telling police his sister had been shot.

When the dispatcher asked who shot her, he stated that it was his dad. He added that his father had diabetes. 

The brother noted that his sister was still breathing and twitching.

After police and paramedics arrived to the home, Tahani was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

According to local affiliate Cleveland 19 news, the victim was a student at Cleveland State University, where she obtained a doctor of pharmacy degree. 

Jamal appeared in court later that day where he told a Judge that he shot his daughter “by accident.”  

He has been charged with murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence. His bond was set at $1 million for the murder and $500,000 or 10% for the felonious assault.   

When asked to explain why the father would shoot his own daughter, family members blamed a medical condition; they said Jamal is a diabetic.

However, the Rocky River Police Department claims the suspect was not under any medical care.

“We had the fire department respond and do an evaluation, it turns out (the father) was not under any medical care at the time of the incident and since he’s been in our jail,” said Lt. George Lichman. 

Tahani Mansour was one of six children. She lived at home with her parents and was the youngest child.

Neighbors were shocked at the incident, claiming the Mansours were a quiet family who had lived on the block for years. 

Police said an argument between the father and daughter led to the slaying. 

“We don’t have a solid motive other than an argument occurred between a father and his daughter,” said Lt. Lichman.
