DEARBORN – Senator Bernie Sanders is making several stops in Michigan on Thursday, October 16 including a trip to Dearborn to sway Arab American voters to back Hillary Clinton.
The senator from Vermont, who was once a 2016 presidential candidate, will be in Dearborn, Ann Arbor, East Lansing, and Grand Rapids.
According to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Senator Sanders will discuss Clinton’s plan to build an economy that works for everyone, and not just the people “at the top.”
Sen. Sanders will also talk about raising the minimum wage in America, as well as plans to tackle climate change and ways to make colleges and universities tuition free.
Sanders’ return to Michigan could perhaps be a welcomed one, after he upset Clinton in the Primary earlier this year.
Sanders had earned a likable rep amongst the Arab community, for his stance on foreign police and his willingness to acknowledge the Palestinian struggle.
For Clinton, winning over the Arab community hasn’t been as easy. Clinton’s campaign is hoping Sanders’ appearance will rally voters behind her.
