LANSING — Former Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer called for a one-person grand jury to inspect Gov. Snyder’s use of public funds— related to the Flint water crisis— for his private legal defense.
Brewer filed papers in Ingham County Circuit Court on Tuesday afternoon.
“Mr. Brewer wants this investigation into the governor’s use of state tax dollars to pay for his own private defense attorneys as it relates to the Flint water crisis,” WWJ’s Lansing reporter Tim Skubick said.
Brewer claimed that Snyder was involved in a central conflict by looking for his own side counsel with the taxpayers engrossing the bill.
Skubick said that it’s predicted that Brewer will publicize that Snyder’s demeanor in office should be investigated, but it is not guaranteed that the court will authorize it.
Brewer did not comment for the story.
