MIAMI – A gunman who killed his wife and son at their Miami-area home and then shot an attorney was shot by SWAT officers after a standoff Wednesday, police said.
Fadel Jabado, a 54-year-old Ice Cream truck driver, allegedly murdered his 43-year-old wife Bassima Jabado and 26-year-old son Ahmed Jabado, who were found dead in the family home.
After killing the two family members, the father of six also allegedly shot a real estate attorney who once handled a property deal for him, authorities said. The 58-year-old lawyer is in stable condition,
Jabado’s five other children, who are school age, were not harmed, the report said.
Police imposed a lockdown at three schools until they found children of Jabado’s safe and unharmed, the Herald reported. Investigators were searching for clues at the home where they discovered the two slain people, a police source told the newspaper.
Jabado had been experiencing financial problems, according to the Herald. He and his wife had also been frequently arguing because she wanted to move back to New Jersey, where they had formally resided.
Jabado was tracked to a field in southwestern Dade County where he refused to surrender for three hours. Police shot Jabado after he pointed a gun at officers.
