LAKEWOOD,
OH — Police and FBI in Ohio are searching for an Iraqi woman, and former Dearborn
resident, who has been missing since October 16.
Lakewood
Police Chief Tim Malley held a press conference at Cleveland FBI headquarters requesting
the public’s assistance in finding Roaa Al Dhannoon, 24, who resided in Lakewood, Ohio.
She
was last seen at her apartment on Edgewater Drive in Lakewood. She was an
employee at a popular Middle Eastern restaurant called Aladdin’s.
She
is described as having black hair, black eyes, 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 132
pounds with a tattoo on her left hand and wrist.
Malley
explained that the police were following up on some leads, but at this time
they don’t have any “good information on her,” which is why they are
reaching out to the FBI and the public for help.
Her
disappearance has been described as “out of character,” as Al Dhanoon has a
three- year-old-son. He is currently in the hands of Child Protective Services.
In
late October, Dhannoon’s ex-husband, Fahad Mohammed Saeed, was arrested and charged
with violating a protection order issued by the Cuyahoga County Domestic
Relations Court as a result of their recent divorce.
He allegedly had attempted to contact her around the day of her disappearance, but police have not been able to link him to it.
According
to Malley, her ex-husband has not been charged and is no longer considered a suspect
in her disappearance, as they do not have a crime at this time.
Saeed
is now free on bond.
The
couple came into the United States three years ago as refugees from Iraq.
Dhannoon
and family members have significant contacts in the Detroit and Dearborn,
Michigan, areas, and the FBI will assist the search in those areas as
information becomes available.
Anybody
with information on Dhannoon’s whereabouts or known interactions with other
people is urged to call a tip line set up at 216-522-1400 or the Lakewood
Police Department at 216-521- 6773. A reward is available, and tips can remain
anonymous.
