NEW YORK – A group of girls from St. Francis Prep in New York City, suggested that minority students should sit in the back of an MTA bus last Wednesday.
“Aren’t you supposed to be sitting in the back of the bus now?” one girl said, according to a Facebook post. “Like Trump is president!” The report was posted on Facebook by Adriana Medina, a student at Hofstra University, who said her sister, a Prep student, was on the bus and witnessed the incident and texted her about it.
Muslim students had also reportedly been on the bus.
A separate post by Medina contains a text message from her sister, saying “There are people on the bus who support trump and they said ‘can’t wait to get on a bus soon and see only one color’” and “trump will finally take them out”. The remarks were also allegedly made on a city bus.
The school put out a statement condeming the remarks.
“Apparently some SFP students made disparaging & very inappropriate remarks on a MTA bus yesterday directed at students from another school. There were also hurtful remarks made in hallways and classrooms that were equally disappointing,” SJP Principal Patrick McLaughlin said in part. “All matter of disrespect stops now.”
