DEARBORN— On May 3, at around 12:00 a.m., Dearborn police officers responded to a report of an attempted home invasion on the 6400 block of Appoline Street.
The owner told officers that he heard a noise in the back of his house and then saw a man removing a window screen when he went to check. Once the suspect saw the homeowner, he fled the scene.
Officers surrounded the area and investigated. Eventually, they arrested Casim Taha, a 27-year-old Dearborn resident, for the crime.
“The quick action by officers resulted in the arrest of a subject wanted for an attempted break in,” Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad said in a press release. “I commend these officers for their dedication to protecting our citizens and businesses alike.”
Taha was arraigned in the 34th District Court. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged him with attempted home invasion. His bond was set at $25,000/10% and a GPS tether will be required if he posts bond.
A probable cause conference is set for May 19, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. and a preliminary exam date for May 26, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.
