WATERFORD, Mich. – Rescuers are searching for Mohammed Wutwut (15), a Dearborn teenage boy who went missing in Cass Lake on July 8.
Witnesses say the 15 year-old from Dearborn was swimming in a shallow part of the lake this afternoon. He went underwater and never resurfaced.
Dive teams from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and Waterford Police are focusing on an area close to where Mohammed Wutwut disappeared.
Investigators said the teen was about 1,000 yards from the shore when all of the sudden he disappeared.
There’s a 60-foot drop in the section where dive and rescue teams searched for most of the night. As time elapsed, more family members arrived.
Divers were in the water scanning the lake well into the dark.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said dive teams have been out there for hours and at this point he believes this has become a recovery effort.
Police say it’s unlikely that Wutwut will be found alive at this time. He was not wearing a life jacket
