DEARBORN — A new Urgent Care clinic held its grand opening at the corner of Schaefer and Michigan Ave., inside the already immaculate four-story Masri Clinic, an advanced medical center.
The urgent care clinic across the street closed two months ago and Dr. Fatina Masri told The AANews that because the Masri Clinic was getting so many requests from the community for care it wanted to fill the void.
“They said they wanted an urgent care in this location,” Masri said. “We have the urgent care under the same physician service as it was under Molina. They’re familiar with those doctors and staff.”
She also said the services in the advanced medical center are a one-stop shop for an individual’s medical care needs.
According to Dr. Robert Bowen, one of the doctors at the new urgent care clinic, the new clinic has the same team as the old one. Bowen, who did his residency at the University of Toledo, is one of just two doctors at the clinic right now.
The plan is to expand, however, Bowen also said that the new clinic is trying to offer 24/7 care by the beginning of the new year.
There aren’t a lot of places that offer 24/7 care, Bowen said, but with the number of schools in the area and the nearby businesses that are open throughout the night, there is a need for this type of care.
He said that without urgent care clinics people would have to go to an emergency room for care, which can cost more money and take much more time.
Masri and her husband, Dr. Haitham Masri, bought the 91-year-old building in 2006 and have been renovating it since. The “Historic Schaefer Building” is the only preserved building of this type east of Chicago. A plaque on the building states,“The massive terra-cotta and granite building was built in the 1920’s following the then-popular Art Deco design.”
“The advanced medical center has a multi-specialty group that provides services such as ear, nose and throat, orthopedic surgery and diagnostic testing,” Masri said. From plastic surgery to urgent care, the Masri Clinic is prepared to help the community.
The new clinic boasts 20 examination rooms and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Saturdays, when it’s open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
