DEARBORN – The city’s pool season is almost underway and the city is reminding residents that they can purchase swim tags and register for outdoor swimming lessons at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. There are six different distinctions of swim tags, according to a press release.
“Preschool, $35. Parents must present a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residency. Youth (ages 17 and under), $55. Must present school-issued ID card. Adult (ages 18-59), $65. Must present proof of residency. Senior (ages 60 and over), $55. Must present proof of residency. Family (both parents and all children under the age of 18), $135. Proof of residency for parents and birth certificate(s) for children are required. Non-Resident, $120.
After being purchased the tags will need to be sewn onto resident’s swim gear prior to admittance.
Swim lessons are conducted Monday through Thursday in two-week sessions. They feature instructions at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and run for 30 minutes. Make-up lessons, if necessary, are held on Fridays.
Dearborn’s outdoor pool season gets underway May 26 with the opening of the Dunworth Pool.
The Ten Eyck Pool will open June 15, while both Lapeer and Summer-Stephens will begin operation June 16.
A redesigned and more expansive Ford Wood Pool is under construction and consequently will not open this summer.
