DEARBORN — The city’s newest outdoor aquatic amenities, two water slides at Dunworth Pool at Levagood Park, will officially open to the public Thursday, June 7. Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly will preside over a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the grand opening. Dunworth Pool will open at 4 p.m. and admission is free.
Free bottled water and hot dogs will be available after the ceremony, while supplies last.
The new dual slide structure, fabricated by Natural Structures of Baker City, Oregon, features a 14-foot launch tower and two slides, one open and the other enclosed, each with a run of more than 100 feet.
The two slides opened on May 26.
Installation of the dual water slide marks the completion of the final phase of the $1.3 million Dunworth Memorial Pool Complex Renovation Project, which also included improvements to the baby pool in 2015 and the 50-meter pool the following year.
Normal daily admission to Dunworth Pool is $11 for residents and $14 for non-residents.
Season pool tags, good for admittance to any of the outdoor pools, are available at the service desk of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dunworth Pool is situated north of Cherry Hill on Levagood Park’s eastern border on Denwood, at the intersection with Sheridan.
Note that Cherry Hill is closed from Outer Drive West to Telegraph, so attendees should give themselves plenty of time to arrive on June 7. Cherry Hill is a common route to get to the park and pool. For further information, call (313) 943-2350.
