DEARBORN — The Dearborn Police Department responded to an armed carjacking on Warren Avenue on the morning on Sept. 2. One of the victims reported that while he and his brother were seated in their vehicle an unknown male approached and ordered them out of their car at gunpoint. The victims exited the vehicle and the suspect took possession of the car and fled.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Pinkard of Detroit, was safely taken into custody on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 4. Dearborn officers and detectives, working with investigators from other departments, have been able to connect Pinkard to other violent crimes in neighboring communities.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged Pinkard with carjacking, armed robbery, motor vehicle-unlawful driving away, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle, receiving and Concealing $200 or more, but less than $1,000, three weapon offenses and a habitual offense notice.
Pinkard was arraigned Sept. 6 in front of Judge Mark Somers of the 19th District Court.
“Brazen acts of violent crime will not be tolerated in the City of Dearborn,”Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad said. “We will continue to work tirelessly and utilize all assets available to us to ensure that offenders are identified and held accountable without delay.”
