DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A Dearborn police officer was involved in a collision while driving through the intersection of Ford Road and Beech Daly on Wednesday around noon, according to a press release from Dearborn Police.

The on-duty officer was responding to a call for backup from another officer who was following a vehicle that was reported as stolen. While traveling through the Dearborn Heights intersection he was involved in a collision with another motor vehicle.

The officer and driver of the other vehicle were both taken to Garden City Hospital following the incident for injuries that were reported as being minor. The accident is currently being investigated by Dearborn Heights Police Department.

According to the press release, the stolen vehicle was successfully stopped and a subject was taken into custody.
