DEARBORN – On Tuesday, April 23, the Dearborn Police Department was notified by CSX Transportation that possible human remains had been located in a wooded area near Michigan Avenue and Miller Road.
A search by officers confirmed that the remains were human. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office responded for testing purposes and assumed custody of the remains. Based on the preliminary findings, investigators believe that foul play was not involved.
Police have not yet been able to identify the individual. They reported the individual appeared to be an older white male, wearing tan pants, a tan Carhart style jacket, an orange knit cap and boots. It also appeared that he was possibly homeless at the time of his death.
Police are collaborating with regional partners and searching missing person databases. Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad said it is imperative to identify the man so that family members can be notified and a full investigation completed. The Dearborn Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying this individual.
