BLOOMFIELD HILLS —A book launch for a guide from Michigan State University School of Journalism professor Joe Grimm titled “100 Questions & Answers About Chaldean Americans” is expected to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at the Shenandoah Country Club in Bloomfield Hills. The address is 5600 Walnut Lake Road.
The guide was written for those who want authoritative answers to basic questions about the immigrant and ethnic group from Iraq.
About 155,000-160,000 Chaldeans currently live in Metro Detroit according to a 2017 estimate and are active in many business, religious, social and cultural areas.
Some of the key questions addressed in the guide include those about Chaldeans’ history in the Middle East and Metro Detroit, as well as their heritage and culture.
“(The book) is a starting point for family members, teachers, people in business, places of worship, government, medicine, law enforcement, human resources and journalism who want to get a fast grounding,” a flier for the event read.
The cost for the event is $25 and includes a copy of the book as well as a wine & cheese reception.
