DEARBORN — Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud has been selected by a bipartisan group of mayors across the U.S. to serve on the Advisory Board of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM), the official non-partisan organization of American cities with a population of 30,000 or larger. The USCM represents more than 1,400 cities nationwide.

“I’m humbled to have the confidence of my peers to serve in this role, and to represent Dearborn in important efforts to strengthen American cities,” Mayor Hammoud said. “I look forward to working alongside the conference officials and staff to improve lives and elevate the importance of local perspectives in the policy arena.”

Hammoud, who has served as Dearborn mayor since January 2022, joins eight other mayors on the Advisory Board. The primary role of the Advisory Board is to help guide the policy and advocacy of the organization, support and grow organizational membership, and participate in leadership meetings.

Serving alongside Hammoud on the Advisory Board are Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass; Waterloo (IA) Mayor Quentin Hart; Fort Worth (TX) Mayor Mattie Parker; Long Beach (CA) Mayor Rex Richardson; Arlington (TX) Mayor Jim Ross; Lansing (MI) Mayor Andy Schor; Providence (RI) Mayor Brett Smiley and Allentown (PA) Mayor Matt Tuerk.

The vote took place at the 91st Annual Meeting of the USCM, with more than 300 mayors across America gathering in Columbus, Ohio on June 2-5.

Hammoud will serve on the board for the length of his tenure as mayor.
