DEARBORN HEIGHTS – The city of Dearborn Height Parks and Recreation Department has announced the details for its annual Summer Fest, which will take place June 4-8 on the grounds of the city’s (Beech Daly Road) Canfield Community Center.
Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by Antonio’s Cucina Italiano and SMART (Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation), the event will include carnival rides, games, food, entertainment and a host of special events.
“We hope everyone will join us for this year’s event,” Parks & Recreation Director Martin Zbosnik said in a press release. “We’ll have a full weekend of family-oriented events… there will be fun for friends of all ages.”

Some of the featured activities from this year’s festival include:
• Senior Events: The festival will once again begin with the traditional Senior Jubilee that will include food, “dueling piano” entertainment, games, vendor booths and more;
• Amusement Rides: Rides for all ages will operate throughout the event.
Food: Offerings from food booths representing a variety of community organizations as well as several local food trucks will be on-hand to satisfy all tastes;
• Entertainment: Bands, dance troupes and more will entertain guests throughout the event, which will include the following entertainers:
Thowra Dabke: A community based Dabke dance troupe that offers local performances and classes. The group offers two types of Dabke, which it teaches from the Levant Region (Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Syria);
Bassam Saleh and His Band: Vocalist Bassam Saleh and his high-energy band will bring back centuries-old traditions of Arabian nights – full of music, song and dance, including some of the hottest Dabke in town.
Annapolis High School Jazz Band: The city’s very own Annapolis High School Jazz Band will demonstrate the students’ musical talents;
Magic Bus – Woodstock Era: The 60’s “psychedelic era” Magic Bus Band will transport listeners back to that magical time of psychedelic music, bell bottoms, beads and peace signs;
Atomic Radio: Metro Detroit’s ULTIMATE party band will get listeners get their night started with some of their favorite tunes;
Sunglasses After Dark: The beloved four-man band that hails from Dearborn will provide yet another mainstage event full of entertainment;
Your Generation: A live multimedia spectacular celebrating five decades of pop, rock, dance and R&B tribute hits.
