DEARBORN— On Friday March 1, at approximately 8 p.m., the Dearborn Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Michigan Avenue and the Southfield Freeway.
Police discovered a 28-year-old female Livonia resident suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers and Dearborn Fire Department personnel immediately rendered first aid to the victim. Fire department personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to identify, gather evidence and canvas the area for potential witnesses. At this time the motive for the shooting is unknown. A person of interest is currently in custody on unrelated charges.
The victim has been identified, but her name is being withheld pending family notification.
“This loss of life is tragic and on behalf of the Dearborn Police Department,” said Police Chief Ron Haddad. “I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.”
