DEARBORN — Building construction permits and building inspections are in place to keep homes safe and in good repair, according to a press release by the City of Dearborn.
City officials say that property owners who are considering home renovations should keep in mind that a residential renovation permit is required for various installations and adjustments.
The release stated that the following renovations require a permit: Addition of room, dormer, breezeway, enclosed porch, sunroom, gazebo spa enclosure; installing a new bathroom; finishing a basement; removing and replacing chimney cap or brick veneer chimney stack; waterproofing of basement interior and exterior systems; constructing accessory structures such as gazebo, pergola, shed, flag poles and basketball poles or similar structures, among other renovations.
