Students from Fordson, Edsel Ford, Dearborn and Divine Child High Schools participate in fitness competitions with US Navy SEALs in Dearborn on April 9. The students competed in a preliminary event leading up the official Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge, set for May 10. Residents ages 13 and up – male and female – will compare their athletic abilities to Navy SEAL standards. The challenge consists of a 500-yard swim, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and 1.5-mile run, identical to the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test. The free competition to promote physical fitness is scheduled from 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. The event is free. For more information about the program or to pre-register for the event, visit www.sealfitnesschallenge.com.
