DEARBORN – On May 19, Comcast, Michigan’s leading provider of communications services and products, announced the opening of a new 3,360 sq. ft. state-of-the-art bilingual Arabic-English customer service center in Dearborn. The new center will serve customers from throughout southeast Michigan and is capable of handling requests and facilitating product demonstrations in person for customers preferring assistance in both Arabic and English.
The new service center is part of the company’s $165 million investment in service in Michigan and its commitment to diverse communities. Demand for the bilingual capabilities featured at the Dearborn customer service center grew from the increasing popularity of the company’s Comcast Digital Voice phone service, as well as its Comcast High Speed Internet and Comcast Digital Cable products.
Bilingual customer service representatives trained to meet these customer requests were recruited from the community surrounding the new facility, which is located at 5070 Schaefer Ave. in Dearborn. Comcast partnered with the American Arab Chamber of Commerce and the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) in the planning and designing of the center and plans to continue those partnerships to ensure the center meets the needs of the community as it evolves.
“Comcast has long been an active supporter of the Arab American community and an active participant in many organizations, including the Chamber,” said Jim Allen, chairman of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce. “This step forward by Comcast further demonstrates the company’s commitment to provide convenient, user friendly service in our ethnically diverse area.”
“Continuous improvement in our ability to meet the diverse needs of our growing customer base is a top priority for Comcast,” said Dave Buhl, senior vice president, Comcast Michigan Region. “Our customers in the Dearborn area and throughout southeast Michigan now have access to a facility equipped with the advanced technology and talented individuals necessary to provide the highest level of customer service.”
“I commend Comcast for recognizing the importance of the Dearborn community,” said Sen. Irma Clark-Coleman (D-Detroit). “This new service center will be an example to neighboring cities of how to meet the demands of diversity with care and ingenuity.”
“This is exciting news, both for Dearborn and the Arab American community,” said Rep. Gino Polidori (D-Dearborn). “This center will help to accommodate our residents and create jobs, and I commend Comcast for its foresight in this effort.”
