Green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney plans to visit Michigan over Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 – Sept. 1.
The Green Party of Michigan is set to host a press conference for the former Congresswoman from Georgia at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the International Institute, 111
East Kirby in Detroit.
The press conference will be followed by a rally with other Green Party federal, state, and local candidates at 7:30 p.m. at the same location. The rally is free and open to the
public.
On the following evening, Sunday, Aug. 31, McKinney will deliver a policy speech on the elimination of poverty at the National Welfare Rights Union Awards Dinner. The dinner is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Retreat House, 23333 Schoolcraft in Detroit.
On Labor Day, McKinney is scheduled to march down Woodward Avenue in Detroit, celebrating Labor Day with thousands of union members.
McKinney, an African American known in the Arab American for advocating at all costs for the rights of Palestinians, heads the first nationwide ticket putting two women of color on ballots across the US.
