One out of every four deaths in the U.S. is from cancer, making it the second leading cause of death in the U.S. More than one-third of these victims are women.
On October 18, 2008 at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) will hold its fifth annual walk aimed to raise awareness of and public support for treatment of women’s cancers.
These are cancers of the female reproductive tract and include cancers of the ovary, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva. The aim is to increase public awareness and understanding of these cancers. This event will allow present cancer survivors, their families and friends, the medical and business communities and the general public to come together and strengthen the fight against cancer.
Sponsors are essential to the success of the event, and to the goal of raising money to increase the awareness of the malignant diseases.
As a sponsor, a company or organization can make a difference in the lives of mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers and friends, in metropolitan Detroit and across the nation. Gynecologic oncology research and education are important issues for the thousands of people who will participate in the walk. Depending on the level of sponsorship, an organization’s support will be highlighted in various media venues.
Profits from this event will benefit women’s health education and awareness programs.
With sponsorship packages ranging from $500 to $10,000 – there’s a sponsorship level for everyone. For more information, visit www.cancerwalk.org or contact the NAAMA at 248.646.3661 or via e-mail at walk@naama.com.
