The “DSO in Your Community” performance in Dearborn is set for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the Michael A. Guido Theater at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue.
Detroit performances are scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 1627 W. Fort St. and Friday, Sept. 18, 2 p.m. at the Detroit School of Arts, 123 Selden St. The Beverly Hills performance is set for Monday, Sept. 14, 10:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. at Seligman Performing Arts Center, 22305 W. 13 mile.
The series culminates in a sixth free concert during the DSO Open House on Sept. 20, to run from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
Discount vouchers for the DSO’s regular season concerts are to be given out at the free performances.

Dearborn Youth Symphony to hold auditions
DEARBORN — The Dearborn Youth Symphony is to hold auditions on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue.
The group rehearses at the center Monday evenings beginning Sept. 14.
The Dearborn Youth Symphony includes two orchestras and a flute choir with musicians from ages eight to 21 from throughout the region.

WSU launches business assistance centers
DETROIT — The School of Business Administration at Wayne State University is launching a business consulting initiative in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties.
“Assistance centers will provide support through a consulting services group in areas such as marketing feasibility studies, business strategy, financial projections, information technology support, and human resource development programs,” the school said in a press release.
Three assistance center locations are to open in Detroit, Farmington Hills and Mt. Clemens, staffed by MBA students under the guidance of faculty and alumni.
“Students will gain invaluable experience and the intrinsic reward of making a difference, and clients will be aided in meeting their objectives while helping our students gain experience,” said School of Business Dean David Williams. “The region will see stronger businesses and organizations, and one additional program to reverse the effects of the brain drain.”

ADC launches logo contest for 30th anniversary
WASHINGTON — In 2010, ADC will celebrate three decades of service.
The group is holding a logo design contest, with the winning design to be used in all materials for 30th anniversary celebrations and on ADC letterhead, flyers, announcements and buttons. The winner also gets a seat at the head table at ADC’s annual convention.
“Contestants are encouraged to create a design representing ADC’s thirty years (three decades) of hard work, commitment and public service,” the group said in a news release.
Entries can be submitted by email to logocontest@adc.org or mailed to ADC Logo Contest at 1732 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC.
